FEATURES Chevron Custom-Made Antifreeze/Coolant is just that, custom made for newer model Ford and Chrysler vehicles. A combination of long-lasting conventional and carboxylate inhibitors provide performance and protection against the effects of extreme heat, corrosion and rust for 5 years/100,000 miles. Althoughit is custom-made for new Ford and Chrysler vehicles, it is compatible with most major brands of coolant.


APPLICATIONS  Designed specifically for newer Ford and Chrysler vehicles but acceptable for most types of automotive and light duty truck engines regardless of fuel type. Chevron Custom Made is sold as a concentrate and should be diluted 50/50 with good quality water or This product can be used as a concentrate to adjust the freeze point of system that has been over-diluted with water. Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze (Delo ELC) concentrate is ethylene glycol based and contains Chevron’s patented carboxylate technology. DELO EXTENDER

Delo Extender should be added to Delo ELC at 500,000 miles/10,000 hours/4 years to reach a coolant service life of 1,000,000 miles/20,000 hours/8 years. The amount of Extender needed is based on the volume of the cooling system. Extender should only be added once during the service life of Delo ELC. Delo Extender contains nitrite and molybdate.

APPLICATIONS
The patented carboxylate technology in Delo ELC can applications. Delo ELC protects all cooling system components and has proven over years of field testing and customer use to improve water pump life and improve heat transfer. The inhibitors in Delo ELC do not readily deplete and for this reason there is no need to add SCAs or test the coolant/antifreeze as is required when using conventional coolants requiring SCA additions if correct top-up practices are followed.
In service Delo ELC is recommended for use out to 750,000 miles/15,000 hours/8 years. If even longer service intervals are desired then the addition of Delo Extender at 500,000 miles/10,000 hours/4 years will extend the service life to 1,000,000 miles/20,000 hours/8 years. When using Delo ELC it is not recommended that supplemental coolant additives be used. If an accidental addition of SCAs should happen it will not create any operational issues. Additions of SCAs to Delo ELC increases the overall cost of maintenance and adds inhibitors that are not needed for ELC to perform at maximum levels of protection. Delo ELC products are dilution tolerant up to 25% percent with other non- Delo ELC products or water. Dilution of more then 25% will reduce the extended life properties of this product. When using Delo ELC it is recommended that the product freeze point be maintained between -12°F and -62°F. If the freeze point is higher or lower than the range specified it is an indication that water or concentrated coolant has been added to the system. To adjust freeze point for over or under concentration use the tables at the end of this document. 750,000 miles/15,000 hours/8 years with no Delo Extender needed or 1,000,000 miles/20,000 hours/
8 years with Delo Extender at 500,000 miles/10,000 hours/4 years in on-road and off-road applications. The use of the patented carboxylate inhibitors promote excellent corrosion protection, improved heat transfer, extended water pump life and in general reduce maintenance time and costs.


PRODUCT APPLICATION
Chevron Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze PG is recommended for use in all heavy duty applications including on-road and off-road heavy duty diesel applications where a propylene glycol, silicate and phosphate free coolant are recommended. This coolant/antifreeze meets ASTM D6210. The carboxylate technology in Chevron Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze PG provides maximum protection for all 6 basic cooling system metals found in most heat transfer systems. Use of Chevron Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze PG helps reduce or eliminate issues found with hard water usage and silicate deposits. The low abrasive formula in Chevron Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze PG also helps improve heat transfer and improves water pump seal life. • Check the coolants color and be sure that it is clear and pink without any debris or discoloration.
• Check the freeze point of your coolant at least 1 time per year using a refractometer made for
measuring PG based coolants.
• If water is added to the system use deionized water or good quality tap water.
• Do not add ethylene glycol based products or this products toxicity will be altered.
• Dilution by more than 25% with other non-Chevron Extended Life products will diminished this products extended life characteristics.

FEATURES
The Chevron Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free (Delo ELC NF) family is made up of two products:
• Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free is recommended for use in heavy duty equipment both in on-road, off-road and stationary applications that require a nitrite-free formulation. This product is not recommended for use in equipment that requires nitrited coolants. A bittered version is available.
• Delo Extended Life Prediluted 50/50 Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free is a ready to use, nitrite free product that is recommended for use in heavy duty applications in on-road, off-road and stationary applications that call for a nitrite free product. This product should not be used in equipment that call for a coolant with nitrites. This product should be used as sold. This product has a freeze point of approximately -34°F (-37°C). A bittered version is available.


APPLICATIONS
Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free coolants are heavy-duty, ethylene glycol based engine coolants which incorporate patented organic corrosion inhibitor technology. Delo ELC NF is nitrite free so it does not meet the chemical requirements of ASTM D6210 or TMC RP 329. Delo ELC NF does meet the performance requirements of ASTM D6210. Thisproduct also meets the requirements of ASTM D 3306. Delo ELC NF is a nitrite, borate, phosphate, silicate, and amine-free formulation that provides maximum protection of the six basic metal alloys found in most heat transfer systems. Delo ELC NF products do not contain phosphates or silicates which are known to contribute to hard water scale issues. Water pump seal wear is reduced as a result of fewer abrasive dissolved solids in Delo ELC NF which results in improved water pump seal life. Delo ELC NF has a recommended service life of
600,000 miles/12,000 hours/6 years. This product will not require the addition of any additives to achieve its recommended service life. If a longer service life than recommended is desired, a regular inhibitor testing program should be initiated.
Note: These products are not to be used to protect the inside of potable water systems against freezing.

How to Convert to Delo Extended Life Coolant/ Antifreeze Nitrite Free
Conversion to Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free can be accomplished by either doing a complete drain, flush and fill or a drain and fill. If a drain and fill is done please note that old coolant will remain in the system and will contribute to dilution of fresh Delo ELC NF. Normally a drain and fill conversion will leave about 10% to 15% of the old coolant in place. Delo ELC NF should not be diluted by more than 25% with other coolants.  Do not add traditional coolants or SCAs containing
nitrites to Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free products, since doing so may affect warranty if the OEM does not recommend nitrite use.


Boiling and Freezing Protection for Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free
Because these products are silicate free, Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free and Delo Extended Life Prediluted 50/50 Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free can be stored at least 8 years with no problem provided the container integrity is maintained. Always dispose of used coolant in accordance with local, state, provincial, and federal guidelines. In 2002, Detroit Diesel updated their coolant specification to allow the use of nitrite free extended life coolants in their engines. In 2006 Detroit Diesel publish DDC 93K217 which only allows the use of nitrite free extended life coolants in their engines. Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free products meet or exceed the requirements of the following:

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF DELO EXTENDED LIFE COOLANT/ANTIFREEZE NITRITE FREE
Traditional coolants containing phosphate and borate exhibit high pH and reserve alkalinity (RA1) when compared with Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free. This comparison cannot be used to make conclusions about relative corrosion protection since the definition of RA is based upon the buffering curve of inhibitors that are not present in the coolant. Delo Extended Life Coolant Nitrite Free’s unique corrosion inhibitor system is designed to protect aluminum andnother system metals at lower pH levels than conventional coolants. The American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) has eliminated RA Level requirements in both keyantifreeze specifications: ASTM D 3306 for automotive and ASTM D 4985 for heavy-duty engines. This action by the ASTM acknowledges that coolants that are not based on phosphate and borate can provide excellent corrosion protection for cooling system metals.

HOW TO MAINTAIN DELO ELC NF
There are three simple steps to maintaining Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free while in service:

1. Check the coolant color and insure the product is bright red, contains no debris or any oil at every PM.
2. Test the freeze point of Delo ELC NF at least two times per year. Maintain freeze point between -12°F and -62°F. Use of a refractometer is recommended.
3. Keep cooling system at full levels by topping-up using only Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Prediluted 50/50 Nitrite Free. Using these three simple steps will keep Delo ELC NF performing at maximum protection levels and provide a service life of 600,000 miles/12,000 hours/6 years.


TESTING DELO EXTENDED LIFE COOLANTS/ANTIFREEZES
Delo ELC NF can be tested for inhibitor levels using two approved methods. The first method is to send asample of the coolant to an approved testing laboratory. There are two coolant testing profiles. Check with your Chevron Marketer for details. The second approved inhibitor testing program consists of using the Extended Life Coolant Dilution Test Kit sold through Chevron Marketers. This kit is a patented kit for testing the organic additive inhibitors (carboxylates) in ELC. Proper use of this kit can determine if the inhibitors in ELC are within safeoperating levels. Check with your Chevron Marketer for details.

HANDLING PRACTICES
All coolants, including extended life coolants should be stored in such a manner that package integrity is maintained. It is recommended that all coolants be agitated before use to insure inhibitors have not separated in storage. The primary limiting factor in the shelf life of a coolant is silicate instability. Since silicate will eventually polymerize to silicate gel, all traditional silicate-based coolants have a shelf life of about 18 months. Delo Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze Nitrite Free is silicatefree
and, therefore, can be stored for extended periods (up to 8 years) provided the integrity of the containeris maintained. All coolants should be disposed of in compliance with all laws, rules and regulations applicable to the this product line.

FEATURES
Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant
 is a single-phase, ethylene glycol type universal automotive engine coolant based on a Chevron’s patented long life organic corrosion inhibitor system. It is a nitrite-, nitrate-, phosphate-, silicate-, borate and amine-free formulation which uses Chevron’s patented carboxylate technology to provide maximum protection of the six basic metal alloys found in most heat transfer systems. This inhibitor system eliminates the need for silicates, phosphates, borates, nitrites, nitrates and amine additives traditionally used for this purpose. Replacing these inhibitors is significant for water pump life because many of these conventional inhibitors have been shown to be abrasive to water pump seals. In comparison field tests with conventional coolants in taxi fleets, Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant significantly reduced the need to replace water pumps during the 100,000 mile test. In addition to fleet tests, this product has also been tested by a major manufacturer of water pump seals, and has been found to be more compatible with the seals than any other coolant tested. Since the coolant contains no phosphates or silicates, hard water deposits in the cooling system are almost eliminated. The low level of abrasive dissolved solids in Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant results in improved water pump seal life. The life of a coolant in an automobile engine is limited by the corrosion protection ability of the corrosion inhibitors. The main corrosion inhibitors in Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant have been shown to remain above 95% of their original concentration after 150,000 miles in automobiles. This allows much longer intervals between coolant changes without worrying about loss of corrosion protection. Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Prediluted 50/50 Antifreeze/Coolant is a 50/50 mixture of Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant with deionized water.

APPLICATIONS
Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant is recommended for use in the cooling systems of all types of automotive engines.
Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/ Coolant meets:

Antifreeze/Coolant meets:
• ASTM D 4656 for automotive preblend
• ASTM D 5345 for heavy-duty preblend.
For optimum year round protection against freezing, boiling, and corrosion, a 50 percent Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant solution (1 part antifreeze/1 part water) is recommended. For maximum protection against freezing in extremely cold areas, a 60 percent solution (3 parts antifreeze/2 parts water) can be used. Concentrations greater than 67 percent or less than 40 percent are not recommended. Chevron DEX-COOL Prediluted 50/50 is recommended for use as purchased.

Chevron recommends that this product not be diluted by more than 25% with non- Chevron DEX-COOL formulation products.
Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Prediluted 50/50 Antifreeze/Coolant should be used as manufactured. No dilution is recommended.

CORROSION PROTECTION
Used Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/ Coolant was tested in laboratory controlled corrosion tests for new coolants after it had already been in service for more than 100,000 miles. The used Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant passed the ASTM D 1384 requirements for glassware corrosion with results equivalent to new coolants and also passed the ASTM D 4340 Aluminum Hot Surface Test for new coolant. Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant represents the next generation of universal engine coolants. This coolant is suitable for a
five year or 150,000 miles service life in automotive applications. Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant and Prediluted 50/50 have been tested against all ASTM standards for heavy duty and light duty coolants. In ASTM 1384, Glassware Corrosion test, the inhibitor system rendered weight losses that were only a small fraction of allowed limits for all six metals tested.

Traditional phosphate and borate containing coolants exhibit high pH and reserve alkalinity (RA1) when compared with Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant. This comparison can not be used to make conclusions about relative corrosion protectionsince the definition of RA is based upon the buffering curve of inhibitors that are not present in the coolant. Its unique corrosion inhibitor system is designed to protect aluminum and other system metals at lower pH levels than conventional coolants. A comparison of Chevron’s extended life coolant with traditional coolants is shown below:
This long life coolant has low pH and RA relative to traditional coolants. The pH change profile in service is a more important performance measure than the RA level. Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/ Coolant shows a typical pH reduction of less than 1.5 units in 100,000-mile fleet tests compared with a pH reduction of up to 3 units for traditional coolants. The American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) has eliminated minimum RA Level requirements in both key antifreeze specifications: ASTM D 3306 for automotive and ASTM D 4985 for heavy-duty engines. This action by the ASTM acknowledges that coolants that are not based on phosphate and borate can provide excellent corrosion protection for cooling system metals.

HANDLING PRACTICES
The primary limiting factor in the shelf life of a coolant is silicate instability. Since silicate will eventually polymerize to silicate gel, all traditional coolants have a shelf life of about 18 months. Chevron DEX-COOL Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant is silicate-free and therefore can be stored for at least 8 years without a problem, provided the integrity of the container is maintained. Chevron Heavy Duty Coolant/Antifreeze Phosphate Free is a single-phase, ethylene glycol based, heavyduty diesel engine coolant that is prediluted 50/50 with deionized water. This product is phosphate free and contains nitrite and molybdate.

PRODUCT APPLICATION
Chevron Heavy Duty Coolant/Antifreeze Phosphate specifications of TMC RP329 and ASTM D 6210. This product also meets ASTM D 3306 for automotive service. This product uses low silicate technology to provide maximum protection of the six basic metal alloys found in most heat transfer systems. Chevron Heavy Duty Coolant/Antifreeze Phosphate Free does not require an initial addition of supplemental coolant additives (SCAs), but does require the addition of SCAs during use. It is recommended that for addition of SCAs the recommendations of the SCA manufacturer and OEM be followed.

Note: This product is not to be used to protect the inside of potable water systems against freezing.

PRODUCT MAINTENANCE
1. Maintain freeze point between -15°F and -62°F. A 50/50 mixture has a freeze point of -34°F.

2. Use commercially available test strips that test for both nitrite and molybdate.
3. Maintain nitrite levels between 800 ppm and 2300 ppm.
4. Generally, check levels of nitrite and molybdate every*:
— 15,000 to 25,000 miles
— 250 hours
— oil PM

*Refer to SCA supplier or OEM recommendations

5. Add SCAs based on the recommendations of the SCA supplier and the engine OEM.
6. Top up low coolant systems with a 50/50 mixture as required.
7. Use coolant ID tags to identify coolant being used.
8. If you are doing a complete change-out of the cooling system follow the OEM’s procedures.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Product service life is normally estimated at 250,000 miles, 5,000 hours or 2 years.
2. Product shelf life is 18 months to 2 years.
3. Product should be agitated before use if it has been standing for an extended period. 

COOLANT DISPOSAL
All used coolants should be disposed of in accordance with all local, state or federal guidelines and Regulations.
